In This room needs flowers., Spencer Finch presents five intimate works that speak poetically to the patience and persistence of the avid gardener. Employing watercolor, woodblock and photography, Finch creates work that feels constructed of color, time, light and air - recording and mimicking natural phenomena of falling leaves and cherry blossoms, chronicling blooms and observing the subtleties of a day in the life of a daisy. This room needs flowers. takes its name from a line in the poem Afterward by Robert Dash's close friend and collaborator James Schuyler.

Spencer Finch (born 1962, New Haven, CT) has exhibited extensively in the US and internationally. Recent major projects include Fifteen Stones (Ryoanji) at the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, Barcelona, Spain (2018); A Cloud Index, a site-specific commission for Paddington Station in London (2018); and Trying To Remember the Color of the Sky on That September Morning, for the 9/11 Memorial, New York, NY (2014). His work can be found in collections including The Hirshhorn Museum, The National Gallery of Art, The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and The Whitney Museum of American Art. Spencer Finch lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Summer was made for movies under the stars! Join us every Wednesday night for free screenings of classic crowdpleasers at Herrick Park, right in the Village of East Hampton. This is the first time any public screenings have been held in Herrick Park!

Update: as sunset gets earlier, movies will now begin at 8, so arrive early to get your spot.

About the Event

In 1797 word came down from New York State's surveyor general, Simeon DeWitt, that an Act of the Legislature had required new maps of all towns in the state be drawn. Learn how Southampton Supervisor David Hedges responded with a hand drawn map and detailed letter of the Town, describing everything from schoolhouses, to churches, to industry, to wildlife and the Port of Sag Harbor. Southampton Town Historian Julie Greene will give this fascinating lecture.

Passers-by were stunned when Alice Aycock's great work Twister Grande (Tall), 2019 was installed at The church earlier this summer, with many people being stopped dead in their tracks at its whirling, explosive energy. It made us think of the creative mind at work itself!

Aycock is an American sculptor and installation artist. She was an early artist in the land art movement in the 1970s, and has created many large-scale metal sculptures around the world. She has been show as part of Park Avenue's annual sculpture installation lining the avenue with her "Paper Chase" series.

Aycock's drawings and sculptures of architectural and mechanical fantasies combine logic, imagination, magical thinking and science.

Teddy Thompson and Jenni Muldaur, along with producer David Mansfield, have spent the spring and summer recording the classic duets of Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton, George Jones and Tammy Wynette, and Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn. Join them as they perform those tunes and more, live in the John Drew Theater.

Teddy Thompson is an acclaimed singer-songwriter, the only son of British folk-rock legends Richard and Linda Thompson. NPR proclaims that he's "the musical equivalent of an arrow to the heart," while The New York Times calls his work "beautifully finessed."

Singer-songwriter, arranger, and producer Jenni Muldaur grew up in a music-intensive environment as the daughter of folk icons Geoff and Maria Muldaur, who both played a crucial part in the '60's folk revival. As well as recording solo albums, she has performed and recorded with Lou Reed, David Byrne, Marianne Faithful, Steely Dan, Ronnie Spector, Eric Clapton and many others. She is a resident of Springs and loves being a part of this incredible artist community on the East End.

Southampton History Museum, 17 Meeting House Ln, Southampton, NY 11968, USA

Southampton Fire Department Antique Truck Committee is dusting off their finest historic fire trucks to be shown on the grounds of the Rogers Mansion. The City Service Ladder Truck made in 1912 will be a featured attraction. Historic firefighting equipment will be on display and include many of the twin forks historic fire trucks. The Rogers Mansion Museum Complex will also be open to the public. Come visit the 12 historic buildings on the Complex which were recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a unique property. All are welcome to see this once-in-a-lifetime, outdoor display of Southampton's legendary firefighting equipment.

Guild Hall's Saturday Family workshops are the perfect way for families to take part in shared learning and creativity. Each session allows families, ages 4+, to explore and reflect on the works exhibited in Guild Hall's Museum as they create unique works of their own.

From reimagining famed abstract expressionist works to experimenting with charcoals, each Saturday Family Workshop provides a new viewpoint and level of engagement to the current exhibition, Robert Longo: A History of the Present. Workshops are led by a rotating team of locally based educators and artists, embracing the diversity and artist colony of the Hamptons.

A single registration is for families of no more than four people.

Quiet Events Silent Disco DJ's will be spinning songs from the 70's to today that will play on wireless headsets with three channels. The dance party will take place in the festive John Drew Backyard Theater, so grab your family, friends, neighbors, and strangers and head to Guild Hall on Sunday, September 5 from 8-11pm for the most fun you will ever have!

Additionally, the façade of the building will be lit up with a special video installation, TimeSpace, by artist Christine Sciulli.

Conversation 1/3 of Brown Bag Lunch talk series by Alicia Longwell on Roy Lichtenstein.

In a series of three informal lunchtime talks, Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Chief Curator Alicia Longwell will explore the world of Roy Lichtenstein.

Lichtenstein looks back in this painting that evokes early Renaissance style and folk-art flourishes, topped off by a bowler hat, announcing the arrival of a young artist who will take the long view to the past.

Join the Society for its Virtual Book Club discussion on September 9, at 7:00pm as they explore "Long Road to Freedom: Surviving Slavery on Long Island," by Jonathan M. Olly, PhD, Curator, Long Island Museum of Art, History, and Carriages. Jonathan will be on hand for the discussion.

Inspired by the 2019 exhibition of the same name, "A Long Road to Freedom: Surviving Slavery on Long Island" chronicles 400 years of slavery on Long Island, including poignant examples of enslavement by families in Sag Harbor, East Hampton, Shelter Island, and Southampton. This manuscript expands upon the text from the exhibition and reproduces a selection of its images and artifacts.

What is the legacy of people of African descent on the East End? How are local communities preserving their historic architecture? How are museums interpreting these stories?

History has revealed that Margot Woelk was a German secretary who, among 15 young women in 1942, were selected to taste German leader Adolf Hitler's food at the Wolf's Lair in East Prussia for two-and-a-half years in order to confirm that it was safe to eat. The play made its New York City premiere on October 5, 2018 with New Light Theater Project. It is the recipient of 2017 Women Playwrights Series, Susan Glaspell Award, named 'Best of Fringe' by The Stage UK and was a sell-out show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Hitler's Tasters premiere at Centenary Stage Co. was done so with additional developmental support from Pacific Resident Theatre, The Boston Court Theatre, Geffen Playhouse and Wordsmyth Theatre. New Light Theater Project's production of Hitler's Tasters was originally presented at IRT Theater in the fall 2018, followed by limited runs at The North Shore Center for the Performing Arts (Skokie, IL), The E2E Festival at 59E59 Theaters (NYC) and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, all in the summer of 2019.

Join artist Justin Beal, introduced by Parrish Director Kelly Taxter, about Sandfuture (MIT Press September 2021), his forthcoming book about the life of World Trade Center architect Minoru Yamasaki (1912–1986), who remains on the margins of history despite the enormous influence of his work on American architecture and society.

Presented on the eve of the 20th anniversary of 9/11,Sandfuture is also a book about an artist interrogating art and architecture's role in culture as New York changes drastically after a decade bracketed by terrorism and natural disaster. From the central thread of Yamasaki's life, Sandfuture spirals outward to include reflections on a wide range of subjects, from the figure of the architect in literature and film and transformations in the contemporary art market to the perils of sick buildings and the broader social and political implications of how, and for whom, cities are built.

ABOUT JUSTIN BEAL

Justin Beal is an artist with an extensive exhibition history in the United States and Europe. Beal graduated from Yale University with a degree in architecture and design and continued his studies at the Whitney Independent Study Program and the University of Southern California. His work has been reviewed in the New York Times, the New Yorker, Artforum, Frieze, Art in America, Interview and the Los Angeles Times and is included in the permanent collections of the Albright Knox Museum, the Hammer Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles. Beal currently teaches at Hunter College.

ABOUT MINORU YAMASAKI

The son of Japanese immigrants in Seattle, Minoru Yamasaki overcame endemic racism in both his country and his profession to rise to prominence with a humanistic approach to modern architecture—an unorthodox style exemplified by projects including the McGregor Memorial Conference Center, the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, and the Dhahran Airfield in Saudi Arabia. In 1963, Yamasaki appeared on the cover of Time magazine, but the critical rebuke of the World Trade Center and the spectacular demise of the Pruitt-Igoe apartments in St. Louis pushed him to the margins of the profession in the latter half of his career. Today, Yamasaki remains largely unknown despite his enormous influence on the history of American architecture and the astonishing coincidence that his two best-known projects were both destroyed on live television.

Harborfest returns the weekend of September 10-12. The Church will be one of the co-hosts for the annual Moby-Dick Marathon on September 10th from 6 –10PM. Sponsored by Canio's Books, this marathon was the first of its kind, and this year is more ambitious than ever, celebrating Melville's 200th birthday.

Held on the spacious ground floor of The Church, the evening's reading will include the "Sailors' Play", with a variety of players directed by Kate Mueth, followed roughly at 9pm with a unique reading performance by the great Laurie Anderson

Scripts from previous Title Wave readings have gone on to full productions both at Bay Street and at theater companies around the country. The 2018 reading of The Prompter was later produced during the 2019 Mainstage Season to much critical acclaim, and the reading of Amy Berryman's Walden from the same year just opening on the West End in London.

Fun for Kids

Whaleboat Races
HarborFest's signature event presented by The Sag Harbor Express off Windmill Beach, where annual bragging rights and the coveted Whalers Cups are on the line. The races had their origins in the Old Whalers Festival, which began in 1964 as an effort to drum up tourism during the shoulder season. Races begin at noon on Saturday and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday and run throughout the afternoon. Men's, Women's, Junior's and Firefighter divisions will compete.

Live Music with The Scofflaws
This year's festival will have more live music than ever, with musicians taking to Long Wharf throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday. Old favorites like Jim Turner and the Sag Harbor Community Band, along with some new names like The Popsicles and The Steven Tekulsky Band. The festival wraps up on Saturday with a 5 p.m. performance by Gene Casey and The Lonesharks and a 7 p.m. show with the HooDoo Loungers.

Clam Chowder Contest Returns!
This year marks the return of the famous HarborFest Clam Chowder Contest, which begins at noon on Sunday. Sample chowders from local restaurants and take home a commemorative HarborFest mug! The event is sponsored by The Law Office of John J. Leonard, costs $18 to participate and will benefit the Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce.

After September 11: Images from Ground Zero documents the devastation and reconstruction of the World Trade Center through images by Joel Meyerowitz—the sole photographer to be given unimpeded access to Ground Zero in the wake of 9/11. As such, the 40 deeply moving images in this extraordinary collection, drawn from Meyerowitz's archives, are the only existing photographic account of the attacks.

New Light Theater Project's production of Hitler's Tasters was originally presented at IRT Theater in the fall 2018, followed by limited runs at The North Shore Center for the Performing Arts (Skokie, IL), The E2E Festival at 59E59 Theaters (NYC) and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, all in the summer of 2019.

A powerful baritone, Brian Stokes Mitchell has been one of the central leading men of Broadway theatre since the 1990s. He won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 2000 for his performance in Kiss Me, Kate. Dubbed "the last leading man" by The New York Times, Brian Stokes Mitchell has enjoyed a career that spans Broadway, television, film, and concert appearances with the country's finest conductors and orchestras.

He also gave Tony-nominated performances in Man of La Mancha, August Wilson's King Hedley II, and Ragtime. Other notable Broadway shows include Kiss of the Spider Woman, Jelly's Last Jam, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, and Shuffle Along.

HarborFest returns to Sag Harbor, Saturday and Sunday, September 11th and 12th with the village's rich maritime history on full display all weekend long. Long Wharf will be filled with live music, kids activities, great food, beer and wine and dozens of vendors representing Sag Harbor's rich cultural and artistic history. Visit Marine Park for the annual HarborFest Arts & Crafts Fair, with more than 50 vendors on hand to sell their handmade art, jewelry and other crafts. Don't miss the famous HarborFest Clam Chowder Contest on Sunday at noon, and of course whaleboat racing all afternoon on both Saturday and Sunday off Windmill Beach.
Fun for Kids
Long Wharf will be teeming with fun kids' activities all weekend long, with bounce castles, games, competitions, amusements and so much more. New this year are The Barnyard Buddies, who bring their famous petting zoo for kids to enjoy at the end of Long Wharf. Just off the wharf on Windmill Beach will be tug-of-wars, hula hoop contests and the annual corn shucking contest. See schedule for complete details.

Whaleboat Races
HarborFest's signature event presented by The Sag Harbor Express off Windmill Beach, where annual bragging rights and the coveted Whalers Cups are on the line. The races had their origins in the Old Whalers Festival, which began in 1964 as an effort to drum up tourism during the shoulder season. Races begin at noon on Saturday and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday and run throughout the afternoon. Men's, Women's, Junior's and Firefighter divisions will compete.

Live Music with The Scofflaws
This year's festival will have more live music than ever, with musicians taking to Long Wharf throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday. Old favorites like Jim Turner and the Sag Harbor Community Band, along with some new names like The Popsicles and The Steven Tekulsky Band. The festival wraps up on Saturday with a 5 p.m. performance by Gene Casey and The Lonesharks and a 7 p.m. show with the HooDoo Loungers.

Clam Chowder Contest Returns!
This year marks the return of the famous HarborFest Clam Chowder Contest, which begins at noon on Sunday. Sample chowders from local restaurants and take home a commemorative HarborFest mug! The event is sponsored by The Law Office of John J. Leonard, costs $18 to participate and will benefit the Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce.

Garden Tours: Saturday, September 11, 10 am to 3 pm Self-guided tours with exclusive access to four gardens on Long Island's North Fork including the Landcraft Garden Foundation, Winds Way Farm, the Garden of Conni Cross, and the Garden of Ugo Rondinone.

Benefit Committee Cocktail Reception: Saturday, September 11, 5:30-7:30pm On Saturday evening, September 11, Landscape Pleasures ticket purchasers at the Sponsor level and above will be invited for cocktails at Fairwind, the exquisite Southampton Village garden of Audrey and Martin Gruss. Fairwind is an homage to the elegant estates of Southampton's past. Mature specimen trees, charming outbuildings, cutting garden, orchard, and successions of garden rooms all feel as if they have been there a good long time. Title Wave: The New Works Series features readings of new plays in development, providing playwrights a chance to hear their works in progress in front of an audience, and learn from the audience's response. The series presents work from diverse and contemporary storytellers, introducing the audience at Bay Street and the East End community to up-and-coming works for the theater. Scripts from previous Title Wave readings have gone on to full productions both at Bay Street and at theater companies around the country. The 2018 reading of The Prompter was later produced during the 2019 Mainstage Season to much critical acclaim, and the reading of Amy Berryman's Walden from the same year just opening on the West End in London.

Bay Street Theater's 2021 New Works Series is curated by Hope Villanueva, Literary Manager at Bay Street Theater, Artistic Director Scott Schwartz, and Associate Artistic Director Will Pomerantz. Please join us for the kickoff screening of The Soul of A Farmer, a benefit for Early Girl Farm. The documentary follows the farm's owner, Patty Gentry, a former chef, as she battles the elements on her three acres in Bellport, Long Island.

As actor Isabella Rossellini, Patty's landlord, tells us in the film: "Patty is the Picasso of vegetables!"

The film upends the romance of farm-to-table. Sure, buying fresh produce at farmers markets and farmstands is wonderful. But the farmer's life is a constant struggle. We watch Patty work her butt off (with her small, mostly female team) seven days a week, growing the vegetables her top chef clients treasure. Such clients as Missy Robbins of Lilia, and Misi; Andrew Tarlow of Marlow & Sons, and Roman's; and Sohui Kim of The Good Fork and Gage & Tollner—all in Brooklyn, and Stone Creek Inn in East Quogue.
Patty's passion is to constantly improve her soil, her yield of organic vegetables, and just as urgently she's always thinking of how to stay afloat.

The film is directed by Roger Sherman, whose films have won two Academy Award nominations, an Emmy, a Peabody, and a James Beard Award; he is a founder of Florentine Films.

The film runs 35 minutes and will be followed by a Talk Back with Patty and Roger.

The sculptural language of Elizabeth Strong-Cuevas originates from the basic form of the human head. Whether simplified through the use of contours and profiles, or by the reduction of details in the case of the monumental works, her abstract faces symbolize a universal human condition throughout time. Strong-Cuevas, a film by Lana Jokel, is a visual journey of the artistic process of Elizabeth's sculpture. Join us after the screening for a panel featuring Lana Jokel, Elizabeth Strong-Cuevas, and director and chief curator of Guild Hall Christina Strassfield. Reception to follow.

About Lana Jokel
Filmmaker Lana Jokel was born in Shanghai and grew up in Brazil, educated in France and the United States. Her documentary film career began with American Pioneers Leacock and Pennebaker. Among her many documentary subjects were Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Larry Rivers, Hamptons artists and Chinese Contemporary Art.

Storied heroes like cowboys, gunslingers, and even General George Washington crossing the Delaware River are fair game in Lichtenstein's scrutiny of legendary characters and the histrionics of the American narrative past.

Following an unprecedented year of COVID-19, political divide, racial and social strife, and injustice, Clearing The Air examines the healing power of the arts. This multimedia group show will be curated by Jay Davis, in-house curator for all of Memorial Sloan Kettering's galleries. This thoughtful exhibition will feature regional and national artists who turned to the arts to overcome health and personal challenges, and those who regularly work in the healing art space.

Walkthrough history with an intimate guided tour of The Watermill Center and its manicured grounds and gardens, carefully curated art collection, and expansive study library. Operating as a year-round artist residency, The Watermill Center's facility and campus offer a unique workspace for artists from across the globe, providing them with the time, space and freedom to create and inspire!

The tour includes a viewing of Paul Thek: Interior / Landscape. Occupying two galleries within The Watermill Center's main building, this exhibition features works and archival documents by the artist Paul Thek from the collections of Robert Wilson (Executor of the Estate of Paul Thek) and The Watermill Center, which has since 2006 maintained an adjacent permanent exhibition of the late artist's work.

The game's afoot... The play begins with an aging Doctor Watson who's finally decided to tell the shocking story of his friend and colleague's very first case. This is a tale of Sherlock Holmes you've never heard before, filled with intrigue, mystery, love... not to mention lots of belly laughs as Holmes and Watson take on their first case together trying to solve the mystery of a beautiful young woman who's lost her memory. All the while facing the man who will become Sherlock's arch-enemy: Professor Moriarty. We also meet two familiar characters in Sherlock's world: Inspector Lestrade and Mrs. Hudson. The past literally comes alive! And we guarantee that even the most rabid Sherlock Holmes fans will be on the edge of their seats.

Conscience Point is known to be the original meeting place of the Shinnecock and English settlers of Southampton in June of 1640. Now you can join us for a paddling tour led by Chenae Bullock of Moskehtu Consulting who will take us on a journey through history to cover oral Indigenous history, Indigenous plant identification, indigenous lifeways, and Indigenous songs. Participants can bring their own canoe or kayak, or at check out you can opt to rent a vessel provided by East End Explorer. If bringing your own vessel, please also bring your own paddles and life vests and everyone please bring sunscreen, hats, etc. Paddlers are asked to arrive by 8:15am so that vessels can be offloaded and everyone can be ready to hit the water at 9am.

No motorized vessels are permitted on this tour. If you are bringing your own watercraft, please keep this in mind. Preferred vessels, are kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards.

Members at the Patron level and above are invited to an exclusive look behind the Museum's closed doors, exploring the art vault and other restricted areas. Alicia Longwell, Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Chief Curator, Art and Education will lead the tour, followed by individually packaged light refreshments in The Fairholme Foundation Board Room.

Los Lobos has sold millions of records, won prestigious awards and made fans around the world. But perhaps its most lasting impact will be how well its music embodies the idea of America as a cultural melting pot. Professor of Art History, Kean University
Lewis will trace the initial New York reception of Parisian Surrealism from the early 1930s, with the recognition of Salvador Dalí's painting and public persona as a key aspect. Pollock's awareness of Dalí will be considered. Institutional backing for the movement, both in commercial galleries such as Julien Levy and Pierre Matisse and museums like the Wadsworth Atheneum and MoMA, played an important role in its reception. This interest acted as a beacon for the Surrealists who immigrated to New York during World War II.

Our story ends at the close of the 1950s, just on the cusp of full-blown Pop Art, when Lichtenstein is exhibiting in New York and immersing himself in the heady artworld of Alan Kaprow's "Happenings," Claes Oldenburg's soft sculpture, and Jim Dine's oversized hearts.

In this exciting workshop, students will explore the energy and freedom of abstraction. How do colors and forms express feelings? Is the energy subdued, aggressive, or excited? What does abstraction really mean? We'll think about all of this, as well as materials and how to use them, and the art theories that apply.
Open to beginners to experienced. The Museum will supply materials.

Explore the work of Duke Riley, Martha Hincapié Charry, and Matthew Craven as their open up their studios for the public!

In Process @ The Watermill Center is our ongoing series of open rehearsals, workshops, artist talks, and studio visits that invite the community to engage with the work of our international Artists-in-Residence. The Watermill Center invites audiences of all ages and backgrounds to gain unique insight into the creative process of artists, cultivating an understanding of how artists from across the globe develop new work.

The Spin Doctors are the last men standing, still making music like their lives depend on it. Thirty years. It's an eternity in rock 'n' roll, and a marathon for the bands who fly its tattered flag. Revisit the class of 1988, and the casualties are piled high: a thousand bands that blew up and burnt out. In this chew-and-spit industry, the Spin Doctors are still riding the bus and still shaking the room. They've never been a band for backslaps and self-congratulation. Even now, they aren't ready to give up the road, adding to their tally of almost two thousand shows.

Ever wanted to be a ghost hunter? Join the crew of the Long Island Paranormal Investigators as we spend the night exploring the 1683 Halsey House and find out what it really takes to be a Paranormal Investigator. You will get a chance to participate in experiments to test various paranormal theories, learn about the paranormal, hear great spooky stories and maybe even leave with one of your own.

Tours will begin with an introduction to who the Long Island Paranormal Investigators are and a crash course in the theories and devices to interact with and document paranormal beings. Following this 15 minute introduction guests will then begin a 45 minute investigation of the Rogers Mansion to put some of their newly learned theories to the test.

Join Museum Director/Chief Curator Christina Mossaides Strassfield for an intimate tour of Robert Longo's A History of the Present.

This long-awaited exhibition is a celebration of and a critical investigation into the span of American history bookended by Abstract Expressionism and the current moment in which we live. In two adjacent galleries Longo juxtaposes America's past with its present through 17 monumental, highly labor-intensive charcoal drawings that act as mirrors into history.

Artists' Table is The Watermill Center's year-round series inviting the public to an intimate presentation by our international Artists-in-Residence, followed by a farm-to-table meal on The Center's scenic campus.

Join us on Saturday, September 25 for Artists' Table Brunch with 2021 Inga Maren Otto Fellow, Duke Riley. Riley's work marries populist myths and historical obscurities with contemporary social and environmental dilemmas, connecting past and present, drawing attention to unsolved issues. The artist's presentation will be followed by a farm-to-table meal sourced from East End farmers and producers.

As a Registered Rodenburg Teacher (RRT), Arielle uses body, breath, and speech techniques to identify and empower your authentic voice. Using the foundation of Rodenburg exercises, you will discover and release the tension that holds your vocal power back. You will learn to speak with more clarity, articulation, and confidence, and develop your presence in the most important dialogues of your career.

The Basics of Singing II Workshop is designed for experienced as well as new singers. Those people who have always wanted to get better at their singing but don't even know where to begin as well as those that may have taken The Basics of Singing class earlier this year or may have a degree of experience. Concentrating on breathing, diction, posture alignment, song choices, working with an accompanist (and much more!) participants will learn how to start the singing process from soup to nuts and after this workshop will feel more confident in their abilities and more eager to jump into some new singing adventures!

In this performance class, participants will rehearse and perform an abbreviated version of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream!
In addition to learning about Shakespeare's text and the Elizabethan era in which he wrote, students will be exposed to a variety of fun activities to further their understanding of the Bard and his world, including stage combat, singing and dance and the ever-popular Shakespearean insult game!

With special guest artist Matt Raynor
Lee Krasner and other famous artists such as Henri Matisse, Frida Kahlo, and Chuck Close faced physical challenges that sparked innovative adaptive processes. Following a tour of Pollock and Krasner's barn studio, guest artist Matt Raynor, a Hampton Bays resident, will share his evocative photographs that capture the natural beauty of the East End. Matt will discuss his creative use of drone photography following a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the collar down.

Join improv master Scott Baker and learn both short form and character development improvisation techniques. Participants will have fun gaining confidence in all situations life will throw at you as well as on the stage. Students will have the opportunity to impress their friends and family with how much they have learned by inviting them to watch on the last day of class! Scott's motto is " A day without laughter is a wasted day" So lets not waste another day!

Apex Ape is an experimental film, and original creature that explores the changing American image through the lens of local legend. Inspired by interviews with East End residents and video archives from LTV, Apex Ape examines societal decay through impressionistic cinematography, treating our familiar landscape as a living organism. As viewers are confronted with the husks of our past, they may even catch sight of the illusive Ape, a cryptid-inspired manifestation of those left behind in a rapidly changing habitat.

Apex Ape was created as part of Guild Hall's 2021Community Artist-in-Residence program. The film will be installed as a multi-channel video installation in our Minikes Garden, allowing the public to enter the film at any time throughout the evening.
