Unbossed and Unbowed, a solo performance by Ingrid Griffith, is the largely unheard story of Shirley St. Hill Chisholm, a Brooklyn-born politician of immigrant parents, who in the 20th century, was the first African-American woman to win a seat in the U.S. Congress and run for the Presidency of the United States. A panel discussion after the performance will feature writer and performer Ingrid Griffith, director Zoya Kachadurian, Shinnecock Nation member and activist Tela Loretta Troge, ESQ, and African American Museum of Nassau County director of art and curator Minna Dunn, moderated by Southampton African American Museum executive director Brenda Simmons

The story journeys back to 10-year old Shirley returning to the U.S. after being separated from her parents during The Great Depression. We see how the years living with her grandmother in Barbados manifested and reinforced Shirley's Caribbean heritage in her bearing, speech pattern and expectations of herself.

Shirley Chisholm's childhood also shows how race and gender were intended to determine how far she would go in life, why as a young woman she chose to fight for the disenfranchised, and what it took for her to rise.

Unbossed & Unbowed dramatizes the Civil Rights era, the unrest of the 1960s, the patriarchal system and the all-boys network Shirley Chisholm was up against, many themes we still see in the politics of today. Visuals and music establish the tenor of the times and create mental images of the economic, political and social upheavals in America from the 1930s to the early 1970s. The characters in Unbossed & Unbowed all have strong voices and valid points-of-view. But it's Shirley Chisholm's narrative that delivers the story's message.

"Arabesque: Figure and Ground in Picasso and Pollock"
Clement Greenberg famously described "all-over" composition--the continuous web of interlacing lines--as an innovation of the 1940s, but it can be traced back to Pablo Picasso's pictures of 1924-26. Pepe will discuss the evolution of the arabesque from carpet design to Picasso to Pollock and beyond.

Pepe Karmel, an Associate Professor of Art History at New York University and an Associate Curator at the Museo Picasso Málaga, Spain, is currently a Leonard A. Lauder Distinguished Scholar at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His many publications include the award-winning Jackson Pollock, co-authored with Kirk Varnedoe (1998), which accompanied the Pollock retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and most recently Abstract Art: A Global History (2020).

In this OUTDOOR and SOCIALLY DISTANCED camp, students will work together with a teaching artist to create and perform their very own musical! In addition to developing ideas for an original script, students will learn standard songs and choreography that culminate in a presentation on the last day of camp for family and friends. Students will receive instruction in acting, singing, dance, and musical theater history; and they will also participate in creative theater games and
improvisations that help to develop communication skills and encourage them to stretch their imaginative abilities.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Bethany is an actress, teacher, director, and choreographer based in NYC and Long Island. She received her BA in Theatre Performance from SUNY New Paltz, where she was named one of the Outstanding Graduates of her class.
She also graduated (with honors), from LIU with her Masters Degree in Childhood Education, and holds teaching certifications in Childhood Education, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, and Theatre Education.
Teaching and coaching credits include: Broadway Dance Center, Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, Bay Street Theater, TADA! Youth Theatre, Pierson Middle-High School, Gateway Playhouse, and NexGen Youth Theatre, her own youth theatre company based in NYC (www.nexgenyouththeatre.com). Art has the power to hold a mirror up to the reality we live in and as artists we are often agents of change. In this theatre camp, teens will have the opportunity to explore social issues they care about and create powerful theatre around them. How can we fuse art and activism together? Join us for a week of diving deep to create theatre that does more than entertain but also informs, engages and challenges our points of view. We will explore what it means to be an active and engaged citizen of the world. Through collaboration, improv, and community building, this camp is for those artists and actors who have something to say and want their voices to be heard.

Join Meg Bishop on the grounds of the Rogers Mansion for some relaxation and breathing exercises. Bring a beach towel or yoga mat. People of all ages are encouraged to participate. Summer was made for movies under the stars! Join us every Wednesday night at 8:30pm for free screenings of classic crowdpleasers at Herrick Park, right in the Village of East Hampton. This is the first time any public screenings have been held in Herrick Park!

In 1959, Life magazine hailed Grace Hartigan as "the most celebrated of the young American women painters." These were heady times in the art world where New York was becoming the epicenter of the avant garde and Grace's circle of friends in the downtown artistic community included Jackson Pollock, Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Larry Rivers and others who introduced Abstract Expressionism and new, modern approaches to painting to the world. That year Grace's paintings were traveling throughout Europe in the prestigious "New American Painting" exhibition, and she was at the top of her game. After Jackson and Elaine Pollock's move to the East End of Long Island, many of their artist friends had followed, and Grace, too, became a summer presence in Southampton in the late 1950s. She showed her work in Bob Keene's Main Street gallery, where she was in good company along with Willem de Kooning, Larry Rivers, Mary Abbott and others. She and Keene were married in 1959 and the couple made Ludlow Grange in Bridgehampton their home, but the marriage ended a year later

The GIANT Room is back with another popular program for kids. Families with kids 3 to 12 years old are invited to join us, design, make, and put up an awesome futuristic fashion show. We'll come up with ideas for summer accessories like new shades, hats, light up laces or bracelets and necklaces, tie dye socks and masks (you can bring your old shirts or even shoes for some dying adventure, too), make and try them on. Participants will become designers of fashionable items using arts and crafts and simple electronics to create their own fresh looks.

The International Center of Photography (ICP) and the Southampton Arts Center (SAC) present ICP Talks on Street Photography, a series of three illustrated talks with esteemed photographers making work on the street.

Richard Renaldi is a portrait photographer, capturing encounters with people and strangers on the streets of New York City and beyond. Renaldi will discuss his photographic work including recent project, Touching Strangers, where he paired together strangers on the street, asking them to touch or embrace one another to create moments of vulnerability and compassion captured in his striking photographs. Other notable projects include his firrst monograph, Figure and Ground, published by Aperture (2006) which presents seven years of work exploring the relationship between subject and Manhattan Sunday, an homage to New York nightlife and the subcultures and scenes that spill into the street between dusk and dawn. This summer, two six-class series of en plein air painting will be offered. Students may join one or both series. The first class in each will be held at the Parrish Art Museum where we will take students through materials, processes, and class structure. Students will explore landscape works in the galleries to discuss landscape painting and painting issues, including perspective, distance, light and shadow, color, trees, clouds, grass, etc.

All other sessions (weather permitting) will be held at specific sites: gardens, landscape, waterscapes. The September 10 wrap-up class will be at a special location with a fun lesson, and a good-bye party!

To celebrate 90 years of artistic excellence in our Museum, Guild Hall proudly presents Robert Longo: A History of the Present, a critical investigation into the span of American history bookended by Abstract Expressionism and the current moment in which we live. Taking over the entire Museum, Longo juxtaposes America's past with its present through 17 monumental, highly labor-intensive charcoal drawings that act as mirrors into history. We are thrilled to present this exhibition and honor Robert Longo at our highly anticipated and glamorous Summer Gala in East Hampton.

Born in Toronto and raised in Buenos Aires, Michael relocated to New York City in 2012 to pursue a master's degree in Jazz Studies at New York University, where he studied with great musicians such as Laurie Frink, Alan Ferber, Brad Shepik, Ralph Alessi, and Mike Rodriguez. Michael has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, BRIC JazzFest, Getxo Blues Festival, Blue Note Jazz Club, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Beacon Theater, Central Park SummerStage, Teatro Colón, has appeared on WNYC's Soundcheck with John Schaefer, NPR's World Cafe, and many more.

What better way to celebrate a mid-summer's eve than with Eve Queler? Join us Saturday, August 7 to welcome back to LongHouse our dear friend, world-recognized maestro and Artistic Director Emerita of the Opera Orchestra of New York. Ms. Queler's illustrious career is well-known in the states and abroad. She conducted the Cleveland Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Montreal Symphony, and Orchestra Sinfonia Siciliana in Palemo and has directed more than 100 operas in concert at Carnegie Hall, many rarely performed, bringing them to the attention of the American public. Eve Queler is the recipient of the Chevalier de L'Ordre des Artes et des Lettres and is a National Endowment for the Arts honoree. For this performance, she will be joined at the piano by two colleagues, tenor, Matthew White and soprano Teresa Castillo, who will entertain us with works by Donizetti, Puccini, Verdi, Gounod, and Mascagni.

Mr. White, a Virginia native, is a recent graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. He has performed in La Traviata, Die Zauberflote, Romeo and Juliet, Cosi fan Tutte, Sweeney Todd, Madame Butterfly and Rigoletto. His numerous awards include Top Prize in the Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition and First Prize from the Mario Lanza Institute.

Costa Rican-American soprano, Teresa Castillo has been hailed by Opera News for exhibiting "a clean, concentrated sound and a lovely, intelligent musicianship." Her operatic repertoire includes Juliet

in Romeo and Juliet, Madame Mao in Nixon in China, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor and more. She has performed with opera companies throughout the states and is the recipient of numerous awards including the Denver Lyric Opera Guild and the Jensen Foundation Vocal Competition.

In this musical performance camp, students will work together
with a teaching artist to create and perform their very own musical! In addition to developing ideas for an original script, students will learn standard songs and choreography that will culminate in a performance to be shared with family and friends. Students will receive instruction in
singing, dance, and musical theater history; and they will also participate in creative theater games and improvisations that help to develop communication skills and encourage them to stretch their imaginative abilities.

Have you ever wanted to be a comedy writer, playwright, performer, comedian, songwriter, or storyteller? Well, now you can learn, as you create performance pieces from your own life and observations.

Based on the participants own lives; Theatre and Television director/writer, Stuart Ross will lead participants through the process of creating stories, skits, monologues, songs, and parodies and together they will create a new theatre experience. The creators, (the teens) will invent, write and perform in a theatre piece devised from their own stories, their own point of views, and their own special talents. With Stuart's guidance, they will present these various pieces (monologues, sketches, songs and creations) into an "SNL"-type revue reflecting the camp participants' lives and spirits. If you would prefer not to "perform," we welcome writers and creators, this camp is all in the spirit of celebrating "who you are."

Join Meg Bishop on the grounds of the Rogers Mansion for some relaxation and breathing exercises. Bring a beach towel or yoga mat. People of all ages are encouraged to participate. Landscape Architecture and noted designer of gardens for Tory Burch, Reed Krakoff, Aerin Lauder and Tina Brown, as he discusses some of his remarkable projects. David Netto, celebrated author and designer of interiors and furniture, will introduce Mr. Guillot and moderate a question and answer session following the talk. The Luncheon will take place on Thursday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m. overlooking the Atlantic Ocean at the exclusive Maidstone Club. Bonnie Brennan, President of Christie's Americas, will be closing out the conversation and inviting guests to sit for lunch.

The program will benefit the ongoing restoration, collections, and exhibition projects of the East Hampton Historical Society.

This summer, two six-class series of en plein air painting will be offered. Students may join one or both series. The first class in each will be held at the Parrish Art Museum where we will take students through materials, processes, and class structure. Students will explore landscape works in the galleries to discuss landscape painting and painting issues, including perspective, distance, light and shadow, color, trees, clouds, grass, etc.

All other sessions (weather permitting) will be held at specific sites: gardens, landscape, waterscapes. The September 10 wrap-up class will be at a special location with a fun lesson, and a good-bye party!

Kyle Barisich is a Southampton local and native of Los Gatos, California, who is best known for playing the role of Raoul in the 25th Anniversary Broadway cast of The Phantom Of The Opera, and was the first actor of Hispanic heritage to do so. He also played the role for the Los Angeles and San Francisco engagements of the long-running national tour. Kyle has been seen numerous times at Bay Street Theater, most recently playing Magaldi in Evita and appearing in My Fair Lady. He also took part in early workshops of Scott Schwartz's production of The Prince Of Egypt. Favorite regional credits include South Pacific at the Hollywood Bowl, Barrett in Titanic, Marvin in Falsettos, and Perón in Evita. Kyle often performs the audience warm-up for LIVE! with Kelly and Ryan, and for two seasons he co-starred on TV's The Following (FOX).

Peter-an unassuming and successful publishing executive is reading a book, on a bench, in Central Park when he is approached by the enigmatic Jerry. Rather than pushing one another away these two strangers have a profound, and life changing moment of connection.
Albee's boundary-pushing play gains new and deeper resonance in our current world of self isolation and personal discovery. At Home at the Zoo (The Zoo Story) will star Michael Urie (Ugly Betty, Torch Song) as Jerry and Ryan Spahn (Daniel's Husband, Moscow x6, Gloria) as Peter, and Sophie von Haselberg as Ann. Originally titled Peter & Jerry, At Home at the Zoo combines The Zoo Story (1959) with its prequel, Homelife (2004).

Together these short plays form a complete story of Peter, a publishing executive; Ann, his wife; and Jerry, a stranger Peter meets in the park. An interesting note in honor of Guild Hall's 90th Anniversary – Albee, a longtime fixture on the East End, was among the earliest members of our Academy of the Arts and received an Academy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1991. He also served one season as the Artistic Director of Guild Hall's John Drew Theater.

Guild Hall's Saturday Family workshops are the perfect way for families to take part in shared learning and creativity. Each session allows families, ages 4+, to explore and reflect on the works exhibited in Guild Hall's Museum as they create unique works of their own.

From reimagining famed abstract expressionist works to experimenting with charcoals, each Saturday Family Workshop provides a new viewpoint and level of engagement to the current exhibition, Robert Longo: A History of the Present. Workshops are led by a rotating team of locally based educators and artists, embracing the diversity and artist colony of the Hamptons.

Manuel Borja-Villel received his PhD in Art History from the CUNY Graduate Center in New York. A former director of the Antoni Tàpies Foundation and the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona, he has been the director of the Museo Reina Sofía since 2008. Alongside research into the new forms institutions can take, an important part of his work at the Museo Reina Sofía focuses on the development and reorganization of the collection, and changing the way the works are shown.

Picasso's Guernica (1937) is the cornerstone of the Museo Reina Sofía Collection: its jewel, the most sought after piece. The danger of falling into a one-way narrative that necessarily ends with the notion of "masterpiece" and all it implies is evident. To avoid this, the museum decided to revise its interpretation, as Manuel will explain.

In 2021, we are thrilled to announce that we will be offering in-person film camps for ages 8-15, which will take place at the HIFF offices at 79 Newtown Lane in East Hampton. All interactions will be held in accordance with CDC safety guidelines and protocols.

With East Hampton as a backdrop, kids will plan a movie idea; learn to run a production set on location, using professional video and sound equipment; and edit the footage using professional software, adding sound and special effects.

The week starts off with campers brainstorming and writing a script for a short film. Once the idea is set, campers start planning the project, selecting acting roles, and scouting locations. Campers may make costumes and props based on the idea, plus there is a day dedicated to learning about acting and how to direct actors on set. Next comes production, when campers will rotate through the major roles: director, camera assistant, actor and more, utilizing professional technology.

The filmmakers come away with their very own short film, made from start to finish!

Instructor: Sarah HanssenLongtime educator Sarah Hanssen returns to lead this summer's Film Camp. Sarah's film and video works have shown at festivals, museums and screenings around the world. She received her Masters of Fine Art in film and video at the Massachusetts College of Art. She is a professor for media production in CUNY. Her writing has been published in The Projector: A Journal on Film, Media, and Culture, Community College Journal of Research and Practice, International Journal of Emerging Technologies in Learning (IJET), Journal of Media Education and The Curator.

WonderSpark Puppets is a New York City based puppet theater company led by Chad Williams and Z Briggs. The company's mission is to spread joy, spark imagination and share laughter through high quality puppet performances. They have partnered with brands like Bed Bath & Beyond, CAMP, NYC Public Schools and the New York Public Library. They have toured internationally, bringing original productions and puppetry workshops to festivals in Thailand and Taiwan. Since mid-March 2020 they have been streaming live puppet shows for families in quarantine and streaming schools.

Motivational speaker Jim Ryan will conduct an inspiring and fun seminar on how we can all lighten up and rejuvenate our creativity during these stressful times! Jim's presentation includes exercises and inspiration right from his award winning book, Simple Happiness: 52 Easy Ways to Lighten Up. Lifelong Learning Series, a free, four-part, online seminar series sponsored by AARP Long Island. The series consists of monthly 60-minute seminars focusing on topics such as stage acting, playwriting, storytelling, and exercises in creative motivation. Photographers Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb present a dynamic talk titled, THE BLIND MAN & THE BUS: On Street Photography and the Poetic Image. The collaborators will show a number of projects—both individual and collaborative—and discuss their work in the context of the tradition of street photography. Alex Webb, a Magnum Photos member since 1979, has released over 15 books, including Brooklyn: The City Within, published recently with Rebecca Norris Webb. The dance party will take place in front of the building and in the John Drew Backyard Theater, so grab your family, friends, neighbors, and strangers and head to Guild Hall on Thursday, August 19 from 8-11pm for the most fun you will ever have!

They say an apple never falls far from the tree, and we have Johnny and his good pals, the Apple Seeds, to thank for an ample abundance of apple trees! Johnny and his little buddies traveled across the land on foot, made friends with all kinds of people and animals, and slept under the twinkling stars. Their delicious, heartwarming adventures yielded orchards full of juicy, delectable fruit that took a crunchy bite out of hungry tummies across the west. Even a grumbly wolf is won over by the sweet taste of the apples and the kindness of friends. The tale of JOHNNY APPLESEED is a tasty reminder that kindness is at the core of friendship.

This show is a culmination of the hard work put in from our week long camp in partnership with Missoula Children's Theatre. Join us for a show that is bound to knock your socks off! Fun for all ages.

A R Gurney's internationally acclaimed stage hit is a heart-warming, poignant play about two people, Andy Ladd III and Melissa Gardner, who write letters to each other over a period of fifty years. Andy is a serious, down-to-earth attorney. Melissa is a lively, free-spirited artist. But these two opposites have a definite attraction. They are childhood friends who share a lifetime of experiences through a voluminous series of letters and notes written from the age of six to sixty-five. Poignant, romantic and frequently funny, their correspondence follows a bittersweet path of boarding schools, marriage, children, divorce and missed opportunities. It's the life journey of two soul mates – enacted through words both written and unsaid – who share the greatest gift of all: the gift of love.

Conscience Point is known to be the original meeting place of the Shinnecock and English settlers of Southampton in June of 1640. Now you can join us for a paddling tour led by Chenae Bullock of Moskehtu Consulting who will take us on a journey through history to cover oral Indigenous history, Indigenous plant identification, indigenous lifeways, and Indigenous songs. Participants can bring their own canoe or kayak, or at check out you can opt to rent a vessel provided by East End Explorer. If bringing your own vessel, please also bring your own paddles and life vests and everyone please bring sunscreen, hats, etc. Paddlers are asked to arrive by 8:15am so that vessels can be offloaded and everyone can be ready to hit the water at 9am.

This conversation between artist Maren Hassinger, Dia curator Donna De Salvo, and Guild Hall director and chief curator Christina Mossaides Strassfield will focus on Hassinger's practice as well as the larger arts community in the Hamptons in the 1990s. Hassinger's new exhibition at Dia Bridgehampton opened in June 2021 and will be on view through early May 2022.

Maren Hassinger was born in Los Angeles in 1947. She graduated from Bennington College, Vermont, with a BA in sculpture in 1969, and from the University of California, Los Angeles, with an MFA in fiber structure in 1973. While living in East Hampton in the 1990s, Hassinger was an active participant in the Long Island arts community. Her work appeared in numerous local exhibitions including Volume: 6 Contemporary Sculptors, Guild Hall, East Hampton, in 1992, and Sightings, Parrish Art Museum, Southampton, in 1994. She also realized performances such as A Day at the Beach for the Victor D'Amico Institute of Art, Amagansett, in 1995. She was a lecturer in the art department of Stony Brook Southampton from 1992 to 1997. Hassinger has completed solo presentations and projects at, among others, Aspen Art Museum, Colorado; Baltimore Museum of Art; Boca Raton Museum of Art, Florida; deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Lincoln, Massachusetts; Studio Museum in Harlem, New York; and National Portrait Gallery, Washington, DC. She recently retired after twenty years as the director of the Rinehart School of Sculpture at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore. Hassinger lives in New York.

Donna De Salvo is Dia's senior adjunct curator of special projects. In the 1990s, she was the Robert Lehman Curator at the Parrish Art Museum, where she organized numerous exhibitions including an installation of work by Maren Hassinger.

Christina Mossaides Strassfield is the museum director and chief curator of the Guild Hall Museum in East Hampton, New York. She was curator at Guild Hall from 1990–96 and returned to the institution in 2002.

Guild Hall's Saturday Family workshops are the perfect way for families to take part in shared learning and creativity. Each session allows families, ages 4+, to explore and reflect on the works exhibited in Guild Hall's Museum as they create unique works of their own.

From reimagining famed abstract expressionist works to experimenting with charcoals, each Saturday Family Workshop provides a new viewpoint and level of engagement to the current exhibition, Robert Longo: A History of the Present. Workshops are led by a rotating team of locally based educators and artists, embracing the diversity and artist colony of the Hamptons.

A single registration is for families of no more than four people.

Community Artist-In-Residence Scott Bluedorn will lead a series of open studio painting workshops in Guild Hall's Minikes Garden as a part of his residency project. Scott's project is focused on the history, practice, and revitalization of "The Tile Club;" a group of artists from the late 19th century, who met and painted on decorative tiles, often en plein air, on the Eastern End of Long Island.

Scott will host these open studios once a month during the extended Museum hours on Saturdays in June, July and August. During these free workshops our concessions will be open and artists will paint on tiles provided by Guild Hall and are asked to bring their own acrylic paints, brushes, water jar, and palette. We ask that each participant gives at least one tile to Guild Hall to be included in a final installation culminating this project in the Fall of 2021.

This program will be moved indoors in the case of inclement weather. Face coverings and social distancing will be required indoors.

Ox Pasture Road is named for the ox pasture which, in Southampton's early days, lay in two divisions, south and north. After the railroad arrived in 1870, summer colonists began building stately summer homes with expansive park-like grounds along Ox Pasture Road. Today, those that remain, together with more recent mansions, preserve its reputation as among Southampton's best addresses. Ric Stott knows the neighborhood well and will highlight some of its most fascinating features.

After outlining key moments in the development of U.S. artists' responses to Picasso during the first half of the 20th century, Michael will focus on Americans' involvement with Picasso's art and reputation in the context of global issues about the relevance of Picasso's work to contemporary art.

Michael FitzGerald is a Professor of Fine Arts at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and the research director of the Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso par el Arte in Brussles, Belgium. Among his studies of Picasso's contributions to contemporary art, two exhibitions are particularly relevant to this lecture: "Picasso and American Art," (2005, Whitney Museum of American Art) and "Post-Picasso" (2014, Museu Picasso Barcelona).

Kathleen Chalfant stars in a reading of Tree Confessions, the world's first solo play from the point of view of a tree. The reading will be followed by Q&A with actress and playwright.

Tree Confessions was originally commissioned by This Is Not a Theatre Co. as a site-specific recorded audio play conceived & directed by E.B. Mee. It premiered in 2021 at the Beuys for Future International Exhibit at the Gallery for Sustainable Art in Berlin.

The playwright has created a new version for live reading expressly for this Guild Hall event.

Operating as a year-round artist residency, The Watermill Center's facility and campus offer a unique workspace for artists from across the globe, providing them with the time, space and freedom to create and inspire!

PLEASE NOTE: The event takes place both indoors and outdoors, as such we strongly encourage proper footwear and attire. Guild Hall's Saturday Family workshops are the perfect way for families to take part in shared learning and creativity. Each session allows families, ages 4+, to explore and reflect on the works exhibited in Guild Hall's Museum as they create unique works of their own.

From reimagining famed abstract expressionist works to experimenting with charcoals, each Saturday Family Workshop provides a new viewpoint and level of engagement to the current exhibition, Robert Longo: A History of the Present. Workshops are led by a rotating team of locally based educators and artists, embracing the diversity and artist colony of the Hamptons.

A single registration is for families of no more than four people.

Join Parrish Contemporaries Circle Members for an exclusive walkthrough of the new installation of art and design at The Barn in Bridgehampton, featuring artist-led discussions of the work on view. After the tour, socialize in the indoor-outdoor space over a glass of wine. Hosted by Frampton Co, an interior design studio and art advisory that likes to be surprised.

Body Language is a new installation at Frampton Co's experimental art and design gallery in Bridgehampton. Curated by Elena Frampton, Body Language introduces work by three female artists: Aliana Grace Bailey, Molly Findlay, and DZ Maciel. The colorful, tactile works represent and encourage bombastic play, audacious movement, and the softness of connection anew.

LITTLE DANCER is an original musical set in the glamorous and dangerous backstage world of the Paris Opera Ballet. Inspired by the life of Marie van Goethem, the headstrong young ballerina who posed for Edgar Degas's groundbreaking "Little Dancer" sculpture – an unknown dancer who inadvertently became the most famous dancer in the world.

The village of Sag Harbor has been a diverse community since its founding in the early 18th century, with the work of people of color integral to it becoming a major port in the early American whaling industry. Located on the eastern edge of the village, the neighborhood of Eastville by the early 19th century became home to a community of Native Americans, African Americans, and European immigrants, with the St. David AME Zion Church (built 1840) as its cultural and spiritual heart.178

In the late 19th century, people of color such as the Fortune family of Brooklyn (see page 76) began joining other middle and upper class Americans in vacationing in Sag Harbor during the summer. Often staying in the racially and ethnically integrated Eastville, Black vacationers rented houses or boarded with local families, with some eventually building their own summer residences. Amid the post-WWII suburban building boom on Long Island, African Americans continued to face discrimination in access to housing and vacation destinations – among a myriad of Jim Crow-era legal and social restrictions present across Long Island. Sag Harbor, though, remained a refuge for vacationing African Americans.

Peggy Guggenheim not only helped to launch Pollock's career, but by exhibiting his work alongside 20th century masters such as Picasso, she helped to establish his position in the continuity of modernism. Philip will show paintings by both artists and chronicle relevant exhibitions between 1942 and 1950.

Philip Rylands was the founding administrator and director of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy, and serves as its Director Emeritus. His publications include Flying the Flag for Art: The United States and the Venice Biennale, 1895–1991 (1993, with Enzo Di Martino), Peggy Guggenheim and Frederick Kiesler: The Story of Art of This Century (ed. with Susan Davidson, 2004), and periodic reviews, including those for the Burlington Magazine.

Susan Stroman, who won the first of her five Tony Awards for choreographing the original 1992 Broadway production of the musical, directs and choreographs this new production headed to Broadway. Crazy for You features music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin and a book by two-time Tony Award nominee Ken Ludwig.

Develop your drawing skills with teaching artist Linda Capello. Participants will practice drawing male and female models through gesture sketches and longer duration observation. All skill levels are welcome. Participants are asked to provide their own dry media supplies.

In the late 80s and early 90s, the streets of downtown Manhattan were the site of a collision between two vibrant subcultures: skateboarding and hip hop. Narrated by Zoo York co-founder Eli Gesner with an original score by legendary hip-hop producer Large Professor (Nas, A Tribe Called Quest), All the Streets Are Silent brings to life the magic of the time period and the convergence that created a style and visual language that would have an outsized and enduring cultural effect. From the DJ booths and dance floors of the Mars nightclub to the founding of brands like Supreme, this convergence would lay the foundation for modern street style. Paris Is Burning meets Larry Clark's KIDS, All the Streets Are Silent is a love letter to New York–examining race, society, fashion, and street culture.
