The Basics of Singing II Workshop is designed for experienced as well as new singers. Those people who have always wanted to get better at their singing but don't even know where to begin as well as those that may have taken The Basics of Singing class earlier this year or may have a degree of experience.

Working with an accompanist, participants will concentrate on breathing, diction, posture alignment, and song choices to start the singing process from soup to nuts, and after this workshop will feel more confident in their abilities and more eager to jump into some new singing adventures!

Please join Dr. Allison McGovern as she reveals archaeological findings on Long Island's development of urban centers along the eastern seaboard as well as New York City's metropolitan core. Dr. McGovern will explore the "forgotten and silenced" past of Native American villages, slave and free Black communities, working-class neighborhoods, and planned communities that existed alongside the well-known estates, farms, and suburbs and how these various communities crafted their own identity and culture. Join the Society for their Virtual Book Club as they discuss "On the East End: The Last Best Times of a Long Island Fishing Community" by Clarence Hickey. Clarence will be on hand for the discussion, with Larry Penny.

In 1970, as a young marine biologist, Clarence Hickey won a position on the staff of the New York State Ocean Sciences Laboratory, Montauk, NY. For the next five years he was involved in landmark studies of Long Island's then-thriving fisheries. He developed deep bonds with the Baymen and ocean fishers who called the East End of Long Island home and worked closely with them as he and the Ocean Sciences Lab studied the habits and prospects of more than one hundred species of fish and shellfish that call Long Island waters home. This is his loving, anguished memoir of those years, replete with vivid portraits of the traditional fishers and scientists he worked with, their habits and discoveries, and their history-suffused community. This book is Clarence Hickey's clarion call for us to preserve and revive the natural community he fell in love with when he was young.

The book is available through the Suffolk County Cooperative Library System for interlibrary loan, as well as for purchase or download on Amazon.

Occupying two galleries within The Watermill Center's main building, this exhibition features works and archival documents by the artist Paul Thek from the collections of Robert Wilson (Executor of the Estate of Paul Thek) and The Watermill Center, which has since 2006 maintained an adjacent permanent exhibition of the late artist's work.

Then everything turned upside down and concert halls closed. With the return to live performances, we decided to launch our new fall series with a belated celebration of the German master.

Join artist Eric Dever at this Creative Studio for Adults and Teens. Investigate the color spectrum and color theory with the full array of drawing media. We will examine relative color, analogous and complementary color, and take cues from Roy Lichtenstein's work in the current exhibition.

Make sure to visit Roy Lichtenstein: History in the Making, 1948 – 1960 prior to this event. The exhibition closes October 24, 2021.

Workshops will be held in the Lichtenstein Theater to allow for ample social distancing. Everyone will have their own workspace and materials. Materials will be provided.

As a songwriter, Andy's approach is simple. "I simply sit and observe what I see in the world around me and put it to music. I've gravitated towards certain observations that I hope others might relate to as well."

Working from a live model, artist Linda Capello's figure drawing workshop will explore techniques of line, mass, gesture, proportion, and foreshortening, starting with short poses and working towards one long pose.

WARRIORS ROCK is a fabulous musical tribute to Veterans that has been performed nationally and we are thrilled to present it back here, at the WHBPAC!. It is a renewal of patriotism and an enjoyable night of music, with music performed by Founder of WARRIORS ROCK and former lead singer of the Vogues: Gary Racan & his studio e band. The concert will feature local Veterans who are the rock stars of the night! It is a well-produced show that presents pre-recorded interviews of the featured Veterans shown on the backdrop of the stage/screen throughout the concert. Each interview ends with he or she is stating, "the song that reminds them of home when they were deployed" and the band kicks into that song. The evening ends with all the Veterans & active Military in the audience being brought to the front and honoring them with God Bless the USA. It is a respectable and well-deserved tribute for the people we should be honoring in this country.

JB Smoove is a multi-talented writer, comedian, and actor. He can currently be seen in the beloved role of "Leon" in the iconic HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm. JB's new book The Book of Leon: Philosophy of a Fool, based on the popular character, was released in October 2017 and was nominated for a 2018 Audie Award for the audio version. Smoove is also known for a wealth of notable TV performances including BET's The Real Husbands of Hollywood, ABC's Fresh Off the Boat, CBS' The Millers and Everybody Hates Chris, and multiple appearances on the late night talk show circuit. He hosted three seasons of the hit show Four Courses with JB Smoove on the MSG Network as well as one season of the long-running NBC comedy competition series Last Comic Standing, and his one-hour stand-up special That's How I Dooz It is currently in rotation on Comedy Central. Guild Hall is pleased to present an evening Artist Talk: The Tile Club: Then and Now with Richard Barons, Chief Curator of the East Hampton Historical Society; Scott Bluedorn, Artist, Illustrator and Designer; and Christina Mossaides Strassfield, Guild Hall Museum Director/Chief Curator. The talk will include insights into the history of the original Tile Club founded in 1872 as well as a discussion of the contemporary re-imagination of this club, The Neo-Tile Club, conceived by Scott Bluedorn for his 2021 Guild Hall Community Artist-In-Residence project.

The galleries and eAT Coffee Bar will be open before and after the talk. Visitors can view the Museum exhibition, 90 Years: Selections from the Permanent Collection, which includes 12 tiles from the original Tile Club of the 1870s, and also the 2021 Neo-Tile Club: Community Exhibition installed in our Education Corridor.

Jane Wilson, an artist best known for the ethereal landscapes of her later career, was part of the midcentury ferment that put New York City—and to some extent eastern Long Island--at the artistic avant-garde. Coming of age just as Abstract Expressionism was about to secure a lock on the art world, she forged her own path. An active member of the group of artists and writers, who were breaking new ground, she experimented with abstraction but remained strongly attracted to landscape. Her big skies are abstractly rendered, yet draw viewers in by their nearly palpable atmospheric moods.

This pandemic will for sure change the audition process. Gone are the days of crowded audition rooms. Going further, there will be more opportunities for those actors who do not live in New York City or Los Angeles.

But first you must learn how to make a great self-tape. Not only will Meghan give you invaluable feedback on your scene, but she will also give participants advice on all aspects of self- taping including set-up, recording, editing and how to send an audition tape to casting directors that will bring you to the next level. Participants will be given their audition sides in advance of the workshop and will be put on tape during class where Meghan will then provide her invaluable feedback. The best "take" will be sent to the participants following the workshop via email. Meghan will also give her industry insight to anyone who brings their headshot and resume.

The workshop is open to beginners as well as seasoned professionals, Meghan a working actor herself, loves actors and truly appreciates the audition process from both sides of the table. Don't miss this truly unique opportunity to work with an industry professional who also happens to be one of only three New York casting directors who are also working actors! Clearing the Air curator Jay Davis, artist and curator of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's Ambulatory Care Arts Program, will lead a tour of the galleries. Following an unprecedented year of COVID-19, political divide, racial and social strife, and injustice, Clearing the Air examines the healing power of the arts. This multimedia group show will be curated by Jay Davis, artist and curator of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's Ambulatory Care Arts Program. This thoughtful exhibition will feature regional and national artists who turned to the arts to overcome health and personal challenges, and those who regularly work in the healing art space.

Ever wanted to be a ghost hunter? Join the crew of the Long Island Paranormal Investigators as we spend the night exploring the 1843 Rogers Mansion and find out what it really takes to be a Paranormal Investigator. You will get a chance to participate in experiments to test various paranormal theories, learn about the paranormal, hear great spooky stories and maybe even leave with one of your own.

Tours will begin with an introduction to who the Long Island Paranormal Investigators are and a crash course in the theories and devices to interact with and document paranormal beings. The Carriage House Holiday Shop and Designer Tree Auction will take place during Thanksgiving weekend and the first weekend of December for a special show and sale of magical treasures. The Southampton History Museum would like to help you get your holiday shopping and decorating off to a fast start.

Join us for a family workshop presented by Wing It Project. During this creative experience, children will create their very own life-size fabric wings-to-wear. Personalized wings are beautiful inspired keepsakes and designed to represent young children's individual spirits.

A parent or guardian must remain with their child(ren) through duration of the workshop.

Wing It Project is a grassroots 501(c)3 organization that leads meaningful initiatives to build capacity around diversity, leadership, children, and resiliency. Our mission is simple. We offer young children opportunities to make fabric wings as means to recognize their potential, feel empowered, transform their circumstances and soar. The Carriage House Holiday Shop and Designer Tree Auction will take place during Thanksgiving weekend and the first weekend of December for a special show and sale of magical treasures. The Southampton History Museum would like to help you get your holiday shopping and decorating off to a fast start.

Martha Stewart and many well-known designers are using their considerable talents to create tabletop holiday trees to benefit the Museum's free education programs. The silent auction of the tabletop trees begins Friday, November 26 at 11:00 am and ends Saturday, December 4 at 4:00 pm.

The Holiday Shop will be open the same days and filled with those great treasures you found all summer in the Carriage House Shop plus lots of exceptional items we've been saving. In addition to the amazing collection of vintage jewelry, handbags and jazzy clothes, there will be ornaments -- both new and vintage -- great stocking stuffers for children, books about Southampton, and items by local artisans.

Tom Edmonds, Executive Director of the Southampton History Museum, says "this is a great way to get the family out after Thanksgiving and begin the festive season."

Please join the festivities on Friday, November 26 and Saturday, November 27, 2021. Open 11:00 am to 4:00 pm each day. Located on the grounds of the Rogers Mansion at the Southampton History Museum, 17 Meeting House Lane, Southampton, NY.

Hudson Valley residents receive free admission to Dia Beacon on the last Sunday of each month. The Hudson Valley encompasses the following counties: Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Schenectady, Sullivan, Ulster, Washington, and Westchester.
